Yes, that is MY HAND with a BLUE NAIL on my RING FINGER. I am wearing blue nail polish on both ring fingers to raise awareness about the pandemic of sexual violence against children that is going on around us all the time.
I encourage you to paint the nails on your ring fingers blue and post with the hashtag #StartTheConversation to raise awareness about the fact that #1in4 girls and #1in6 boys have experienced or will experience sexual trauma/abuse by the time they are 18. Let's let them know they are not alone and do not have to suffer in silence.
Let's spread the word, paint our nails, engage the conversations that happen as a result, advocate for research and investment in restorative solutions, and let the world know that we stand with those who have been abused -- fully willing to have the conversation, hear their stories, and support their healing.
